The Delhi High Court will hear on 16 October the petition for permission to protest at Jantar Mantar. The High Court on Tuesday (13 October) fixed 16 October for hearing the PIL, which urges the authorities to grant permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar and to declare the right to peaceful agitation as part of freedom of expression. The bench of Acting Chief Justice Nitin Vasudev Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma asked the petitioner to place on record a copy of a similar petition pending in the High Court. The bench said, "We want to see the copy of the petition filed in the Supreme Court. We don't want to give contradictory orders." Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma informed that the Supreme Court has deferred till 15 October the hearing of the petitions filed before it relating to the protest. Hundreds of people also came out on the streets of Delhi (11 November) after the protest of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
