In the biggest and most comprehensive operation against cybercriminals, the Delhi Police launched a simultaneous attack on the fraud network spread all over the country. In a 48-hour long special operation under Operation CyHoc 5.0, 7,189 people were detained while 916 accused were arrested. The police claim that the operation has unearthed cases in which the fraud amount reaches about Rs 700 crore. The operation started at 8 am on 16 June and continued till 8 am on 18 June. All 15 police districts of Delhi, the Crime Branch, the Railway-Metro Police and the IFSO Unit together conducted 715 raid teams. The operation reached 21 states and union territories, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, West Bengal, besides Delhi. During the operation, 481 new cases related to cyber fraud were registered, while 410 old cases were also solved. In total, more than 4,290 people were prosecuted. These cases were reported on the National Cybercrime Portal.
