Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Clarifies Purpose of Voter List Notices

The next phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has started in Delhi. Now people's objections are being taken, but there is a lot of fuss over the people who are being sent notices after the draft list came out. Meanwhile, Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar said that the notice has been sent to the voters in order to keep the record of the name, address and age of the voters in the voter list correct. Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar has clarified in an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak that the notice issued to the voters is not to delete the name from the voter list, but to keep the record of the name, address and age of the voters absolutely accurate and correct. Ashok Kumar said that there are two categories of notices. The first is of the voters who could not be mapped with the data of 2002. The second is of the people who were mapped but the discrepancies between the old and new data regarding their name, middle name, spelling, date of birth or relatives. He found that the purpose of the notice is not to cut the name, but to correct the process.
