Election Commission Accused of Favoring Ruling Party by Adding Millions of New Voters

Targeting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Sunday alleged that the Election Commission added about 4 million voters after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and before the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Rohit Pawar said that due to glitches in the verification process, only 3 million voters were added in 5 years between the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, that is, about 53,000 voters every month on average. After the poor performance of the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, 4 million voters were added in 6 months, that is, about 6,5 million voters every month. He said that just before the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the ruling party added 6,5 million new voters with the help of Gyanesh Kumar. He said that this was done to ensure the victory of the BJP. Rohit said that Gyanesh Kumar is behaving like a king in Delhi and is talking as if the Election Commission is his. Rohit pointed out that due to glitches in the verification process, about 3 million voters could be removed from the SIR and in this process, 5 million voters were added in 6 months, that is, an average of 6 lakh voters every month.
