Election Commission Makes Parental SIR Information Mandatory for New Voter Registrations

According to Election Commission (EC) officials, not only existing voters who could not make it to the previous Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, but also new applicants seeking to be added to the electoral roll will have to provide information related to their parents'SIR. This information will be part of the process of joining or remaining on the electoral roll. According to the Commission, this declaration was added to Bihar's SIR process launched in June last year. New voters had to fill this declaration along with Form-6 during that time. Bihar Election Commission officials said that along with the instructions issued in Form-6, this was also included in the form.
