Election Commission Observer Faces Removal Petition Amid Fire and Scandal in India

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the removal of IPS Ajay Pal Sharma, the observer of the Election Commission in West Bengal. Petitioner Aditya Das alleges that IPS Ajay Pal acted in a partisan manner. The petition claims that the officer intimidated the voters and violated the role of the observer. Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had refused to intervene in the case. The Madras High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into the alleged Rs 397 crore transformer purchase scam during the tenure of Power Minister Senthil Balaji. The CM Yogi Adityanath has instructed the Commissioner of Police, District Magistrate to reach the spot immediately. The CM said that negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
