Election Commission Orders Major Reshuffle of Top Police Officers in State Ahead of Assembly Elections

The Election Commission has ordered a major reshuffle at the IPS level in view of the upcoming assembly elections in the state. To maintain administrative neutrality, several top police officers have been shifted from election-related duties to new posts. A notification issued by the Home and Hill Affairs Department of the state government on Wednesday said that these transfers have been effected with immediate effect as per the orders of the commission. According to the notification, Rajeev Mishra, who was till now the ADG and IG of South Bengal, has been moved to the post of ADG Modernization and Coordination. Praveen Kumar Tripathi and Sunil Kumar Choudhary have been posted as IGs of STF. Sukesh Kumar Jain has been sent to the post of IG, Intelligence Branch. Also, Akash Magharia and Dr. Koteswar Rao have been made DIGs of Intelligence Branch. However, Laxmi Narayan Meena continues to be the ADG and IG of Correctional Services. He will also hold the post of ADG of SCRB as an additional charge. Superintendents of Police at multiple levels have also been transferred.
