Election Commission Releases Final Electoral Roll for Assam's Special Revision 2026

Guwahati:TheElection Commission of Indiaon February 10 released the final electoral roll for theSpecial Revision 2026across all 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam. The updated list places the total electorate at 2,49,58,139.Official data show a drop of 2,43,485 voters from the draft roll, which had listed 2,52,01,624 names. The final roll includes 1,24,82,213 male voters and 1,24,75,583 female voters. It also includes 343 voters registered under the third-gender category.According to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, the Commission published the integrated draft roll on December 27, 2025. Officials carried out a statewide door-to-door verification drive between November 22 and December 20, 2025. After that, the Commission invited claims and objections until January 22, 2026. It finalised the rolls after completing the scrutiny process.The Commission said the Special Revision aims to improve the accuracy of the electoral roll. It seeks to remove duplicate and ineligible entries. At the same time, it updates voter details ahead of upcoming elections.Meanwhile, the Commission has revised the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision in West Bengal. It has extended the final publication of voter lists to February 14, 2026. Officials said they needed more time to complete extensive enumeration work and rationalise polling stations.Under the revised schedule, Booth Level Officers in West Bengal completed house-to-house verification on December 11, 2025. The Commission published the draft rolls on December 16, 2025. It accepted claims and objections until January 15, 2026.Reiterating its stand, the Commission urged citizens to take part in the revision process. It said accurate and updated electoral rolls are key to ensuring free and fair elections.Related
