Estonia's Defence Minister Resigns Over Controversial Artillery Shell Deal with Indian Company

Brokering arms deals with foreign companies has led to resignations in India, from ministers to military commanders. Even governments have lost power, but now there are reports that the defence minister of the northern European country of Estonia has had to resign because of a company from India. The matter is related to the supply of artillery shells to Ukraine. The defence minister of Estonia, Hona Pevkur, has had to resign over the artillery shell (cannonballs) deal for Ukraine. Because the Italian company Datacel, from which the deal was made, had not made a single cannonball to date. This company was bought by a company in India (Maharashtra) some time ago. The total deal was about 70 million euros (about 800 million rupees). According to information, Estonia had taken money from Russia's account frozen in Europe for this deal. The cannonballs to be bought from this deal, were to be supplied to Ukraine so that the DATACEL agency could be used in the Russian field. After this, the company resigned.
