Estonia's Defense Minister Resigns Over Controversial Ammunition Deal to Help Ukraine

Estonia's Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur has resigned from his post. He took this decision after the ammunition deal of 70 million euros (about more than ₹768.50 crores) made to help Ukraine did not happen. This matter came to the fore when an Indian-owned company was included in this deal, which had no record of selling artillery shells before. Pevkur was in the post of Defense Minister of Estonia since 2022. He announced his resignation on Wednesday. He said that he is taking responsibility for this defense deal. This matter is related to the deal made in 2024, which was made by Estonia's Center for Defense Investments with a company named Datacel SRL. Datacel was registered in Italy, which was purchased by India's Neco Defense Munitions in the same year. The purpose of this deal was to provide artillery shells for Ukraine. Estonia's government is facing a huge shortage of European ammunition at that time.
