Farmer Allegedly Forced to Pay Bribe by Naib Tehsildar in 2020

According to Assistant District Public Prosecution Officer Manvendra Singh, the case dates back to 2020. Braj Bihari Prajapati, a resident of Sili village, was transporting soil from his farm for brick-making in a tractor. Meanwhile, the then Naib Tehsildar Ravi Shankar Shukla seized his tractor and made him stand in the police station. It is alleged that Ravi Shankar Shukla had demanded a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the farmer in return for abandoning the tractor. He complained to the Sagar Lokayukta police. After the complaint, the Lokayukta team planned action. During the conversation, Rs 35,000 was agreed to be given, out of which Rs 10,000 had already been given. When the complainant reached the government residence to give the remaining Rs 25,000, Ravi Shankar Shukla asked him to give the amount to the watchman standing near him, Devi Dayal Dahayat. As soon as the bribe amount was handed over, the Lokayukta team raided both the spot and recovered the bribe money.
