Foreigners Arrested in Tamil Nadu Elections Scandal

Chennai: After the victory of Thalapathy Vijay-led TVK in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, a shocking case has now come to light. Immigration officials have arrested several foreigners at Chennai and Madurai airports. Most of them are Sri Lankan nationals. They are alleged to have voted in last month's state elections despite holding foreign passports. Investigators are also looking into whether citizens of other countries besides Sri Lanka could be involved. NDTV reports quoting four Sri Lankan resident immigration officials among 10 foreigners arrested in Chennai, including four women. According to information, those arrested from Sri Lanka have been identified as Ranjini (59), Sarfudeen (68), Nilanthi (44), Jayanthan (40), Balachandran (48) and Sunitha (48).
