From Sweeper to Minister: Kalita Majhi's Inspiring Journey to Power

An inspiring story has emerged from the politics of West Bengal, which has captured the attention of the whole country. Kalita Majhi, who once worked as a sweeper and dishwasher in the homes of others, has today won the assembly elections on the basis of her struggle and public support and has reached the post of a minister. This historic victory on a BJP ticket from the Ausgram assembly constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) in East Burdwan district has set a new precedent in the political corridors. Kalita Majhi is a resident of Ward No. 3 (Majhpukur Par) of Guskara Municipality in East Burdwan district. Kalita's family life has been very simple and stressful. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer, while her son Partha has passed the Higher Secondary Examination this year. Till some time ago, Kalita herself used to work as a sweeper in the homes of others to support her family, where she used to wash the clothes and clean the country.
