Gas Cylinder Prices Skyrocket in Pakistan, Cooking Expenses Soar

New Delhi, તા.21: There is not only tension on the border between India and Pakistan, but also a sky-rocketing gap in the common man's kitchen budget. A domestic gas cylinder of 14.2 kg is available in India at around રૂ.911, which is a relief for the general public due to stable supply and a strong economy. On the contrary, the situation is very serious in Pakistan; although the cylinder weighs less than India, it costs around PKR2664 (about રૂ.888-રૂ.900 in Indian rupees). Technically speaking, cooking is proving to be like chewing gourd for Pakistani cooks as they have to pay more against less weight. The main reason behind the gas boom in Pakistan is its import dependence and the continuous erosion of the Pakistani rupee against the dollar. Pakistan imports a large part of its requirement from abroad, which also has a direct impact on the international market, with 18% of the household budget now being dispersed in addition to the normal marketing expenses.
