Gauhati High Court Rejects Pawan Khera's Anticipatory Bail Plea in Defamation Case

New Delhi: Congress leader Pawan Khera's troubles seem to be mounting. The Gauhati High Court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea. The matter relates to a defamation case filed by Rinki Bhuyan Sharma, the wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sharma alleged that false claims have been made against him, including multiple passports and mention of undisclosed assets abroad. It is reported that Pawan Khera filed an anticipatory bail application in the Gauhati High Court on Monday, but the court rejected it. As a result, he is now at risk of arrest. Earlier, the Telangana High Court had granted a seven-day transit anticipatory bail to Khera, but the Supreme Court later stayed the order.
