Gehlot Advocates for Youth Representation in Congress Candidate Selection

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday, August 18, advocated changes in the selection of Congress candidates in the upcoming civic body and Panchayati Raj elections. He said that the party should give more than half of the tickets to Gen-Ze and young candidates. Speaking to the media after the meeting held in the Congress war room, Ashok Gehlot said that the atmosphere of politics has changed and the participation of youth is increasing continuously. I have said that more than 50 percent of the tickets should be given to Gen-Ze. The experience of senior leaders should be used, but it is also necessary to bring the new generation forward. Their importance cannot be ignored. Ashok Gehlot strongly opposed the ticket distribution on the basis of the recommendation of senior leaders. He said that the observers should get the freedom to evaluate the candidates at the grassroots level. Gehlot said, "Don't give tickets on the basis of recommendation. History is witness that whenever tickets have been given on the recommendation, defeat has been suffered. Tickets and dedicated party workers should be given."
