A shocking case of cyber fraud has come to light by befriending unknown people on social media. A Ghanaian girl, who befriended a farmer from Jasdan in Rajkot on Facebook, duped him of Rs 6.31 lakh on the pretext of sending gifts. After receiving the complaint, Rajkot Cyber Crime started an investigation and arrested three foreign nationals who allegedly committed cyber fraud while living in Delhi-Noida. According to the police, the farmer had accepted a friend request from a Facebook account named'Mary M Samuelf '. The next day, he received a call from a young woman. She described herself as a widow and the mother of a son. She then expressed a desire to send gifts for the farmer and his family. Later, a WhatsApp conversation started between Josephine aka Angel and the farmer. Josephine told the farmer that she had sent a gift parcel from Germany. After this, a woman called herself the customs officer of Delhi Airport and asked to deposit a separate amount of customs duty before redeeming the parcel from abroad.
