The ongoing war between Israel-US and Iran has now entered its second month. Concerns over energy supplies and prices are rising globally due to this conflict. Meanwhile, renowned American political expert and author Robert Pape has warned that the shortages resulting from this protracted conflict will affect India and many other countries in the Global South quite dramatically. He said that New Delhi is slowly engaging with Tehran to protect its energy interests. Speaking to news agency ANI, University of Chicago political science professor Robert Pape said that there is a 70 percent chance that the US will launch a ground invasion of Iran. He said that as oil prices rise and supply is pressured, food prices will also rise. Rich countries will pay these increased prices, but poor countries will not only pay higher prices but also face real shortages. Robert Pape, referring to Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz, said that Iran has now become a more dangerous oil superpower than it was before the war.
