Government Under Fire for Plan to End Concessions on Himachal Road Transport Corporation Buses

The Leader of Opposition said that the government, which has snatched facilities and increased fees, is now preparing to scissor ride on the discounts being given to Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses. HRTC cannot become a means of earning revenue from the people of the state. A large population of the state is dependent on this transport system. He said that according to published news reports, the government is almost ready to end the concession given to different categories of cards. It also has a plan to halve the 30 percent discount given to the elderly on the Samman card. It is also preparing to reduce the 25 percent discount given to green cards to 5 percent. The facilities being given to the patients are being snatched and various charges are also being imposed on them. Jai Ram Thakur said that instead of taking credit for the Bulk Drug Park, the government should work seriously there. This project has not gained the expected momentum.
