Ahmedabad, તા.02: Local body elections in Gujarat have been announced by the State Election Commission on Wednesday. Polling will be held simultaneously in all fifteen metros, 84 municipalities, 260 taluks and 34 district panchayats on April 26. The BJP has started the process of conducting census from April 1 to select about 10,000 candidates. Three observers per district, taluka, panchayat, constituency, and the rest of the region have started their tours. For the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, observers will go for census from Thursday. Three observers, including a woman leader, have been appointed as observers per district, taluka, municipality, municipal corporation area. Over 200 observers are being notified of their areas on the next day of the tour. The BJP has banned any show of strength at the venue of the hearing for ticket seekers. Similarly, the claims of all the contenders will be accepted by the observers, though the final list of 60 candidates will be decided by the party's election committee, which means that no more than three members of the legislative assembly will be elected by the party.
