Gujarat Local Body Elections Conclude Amid Heat and Political Posturing

AHMEDABAD: The 15 municipal corporations, 84 nagar palikas, 260 talukas and 34 zilla panchayats along with 393 local bodies in the state will go into a state of hibernation this evening and the last rites of the procession, dam, danda, bhed will begin tonight. Tomorrow is going to be the night of slaughter. Before the campaign ends this evening, the BJP-Congress-AAP etc. are trying to attract voters by campaigning with full force. The public campaign for the last thirteen days for the local body elections in Gujarat is ending at 5 pm on Friday. The political parties have been unable to convince the voters in the capital of development, allegations, counter-allegations and anti-incumbency in many places amid the unbearable heat and lack of concrete public issues. The Congress, BJP and other opposition parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party, have held rallies, rallies, and rallies across the state to woo the voters.
