Ahmedabad, તા.10: With the local body elections in Gujarat in full swing, it was decided to keep the offices open and accept nominations on April 11, the last date for accepting nominations for the polls to be held on April 26, despite it being a public holiday. The State Election Commission, Gandhinagar, has made an important announcement for the general elections to 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats and 250 taluka panchayats in the state to be held on April 26, 2026, as well as by-elections to vacant municipal seats. As per the schedule announced by the commission, the last date for accepting nominations is April 11, 2026. Notably, government offices are usually closed on this day as it is a second Saturday, but in view of the election process, the State Election Commission has clarified that the offices of returning officers and assistant returning officers will be functional on this day as well. The Election Commission said that all candidates who wish to contest the local body elections will be able to fill their forms on the day of the holiday.
