Gandhinagar: Ahead of the upcoming local body elections in Gujarat, the political atmosphere has heated up. Varun Patel of the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti has written a letter to the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Gujarat, making serious demands for the protection of the interests of the non-reserved category. In the letter, he has specifically mentioned that the quota of OBC reservation in the local body elections has been increased from 10 to 27 percent, due to which now a total of 50 percent seats have been reserved for the non-reserved category and the remaining 50 percent seats are left for the non-reserved category. It is a moral duty to maintain the representation: Varun Patel has stressed in the letter that the 50 percent seats that are left for the non-reserved category in Gujarat. The party should seriously think about the maximum seats to be given to the non-reserved category candidates, especially in the open seats. He added that it is also the moral duty of the state president to take appropriate decisions in this regard.
