New Delhi તા.27: Gujarat, a model state for the BJP and a BJP stronghold, went to the local body polls peacefully yesterday. Polling was not up to the mark due to scorching heat. The state recorded an average voter turnout of 59 per cent, including 52 per cent in 15 municipal corporations, 84 per cent in municipalities, 62 per cent in 34 district panchayats, and 63 per cent in 260 taluka panchayats. Counting of votes is scheduled for tomorrow. As per trends, the BJP is likely to retain its hold in this election. Polling has increased in 6 metros as compared to 2015 and 2021. 7 per cent more than in 2021. People came out to vote in large numbers despite the sky being overcast. According to sources, this time the state election was different from previous elections. There was no clear wave or clear voting pattern. There is a strong anti-incumbency factor in the ruling party.
