Gujarat's Waning Voter Enthusiasm: A Symptom of Political Dishonesty

In a democracy, the vote is the most powerful weapon of the citizen. But in today's time, this weapon seems to be getting worn out in Gujarat. West Bengal has a high voter turnout of 90 percent and Tamil Nadu 84 percent. In contrast, in areas like Umreth in Gujarat, only 56 percent voting is recorded. These figures make it clear that the enthusiasm for democracy is now dying among the voters of Gujarat. In West Bengal, the roots of politics are deep. There is an equally strong opposition against a strong ruler. When there is a fight between two equal forces, the public finds its vote valuable. In Tamil Nadu too, the ideological battle is fierce. In contrast, in Gujarat, the ruling party leaders are weak, the opposition is very weak and directionless. In the battle of weakness, the public avoids going to the polling booth. The main reason for the discontent among the people of Gujarat is'political dishonesty '.
