Harivansh Re-Nominated as Rajya Sabha MP by President

The term of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh as a member ends today i.e. on 10 April. The election process for the vacant seat has already been completed. Harivansh's party Janata Dal (United) did not send him to the Rajya Sabha this time. Harivansh's departure from the Upper House was considered certain, but on this occasion he has received the gift of another term. Harivansh has been nominated by the President as a Rajya Sabha MP from his quota. A gazette notification has also been issued in this regard. After the nomination from the presidential quota, it has now been decided that Harivansh's voice will still resonate in the Upper House for the next six years. This will be Harivansh's third term as a member of the Rajya Sabha. The gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs states that the President nominates Harivansh in the Rajya Sabha to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of a nominated member. Significantly, under Article 80 of the Constitution, the President can nominate 12 members of the Rajya Sabha to the Rajya Sabha. Murmu Samaj can nominate eminent persons in the field of art, science, and service. Six members can be nominated to the
