Himachal CM Praises Labor Welfare Scheme, VB-G Ram Ji Yojana

Jai Ram Thakur, in a statement issued on Friday, said that it is a positive initiative that the schemes are getting better with time and their scope is expanding. He said that VB-G Ram Ji Yojana has made important provisions like accountability of the government, transparency in employment, right to employment, timely payment and increase in days of employment. He claims that these arrangements will curb corruption, which the state government is uncomfortable with. The Leader of the Opposition said that under VB-G Ram Ji Yojana, the period of employment has been increased from 100 days to 125 days. Apart from this, the share of the central government in construction works has been increased from 75% to 90%, which will give special benefits to hilly states like Himachal. He said that workers will get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana in case of an accident at the workplace and there is also a provision to give an amount including interest if wages are not paid within 15 days. There is also a provision to give unemployment allowance and increase administrative expenses from 6% to 9% if employment is not available.
