: The Hmar Inpui, the apex body of the Hmar community, has officially withdrawn from the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), saying the umbrella organisation has failed to evolve into an inclusive platform representing all Zohnathlak tribes. The decision, which came into effect on July 1, marks a significant development in Manipur ‘s tribal political landscape. In a statement signed by Hmar Inpui President Rev. Ros Infimate and General Secretary Immanuel Pulamte, the organisation said it had initially joined the Kuki-Zo Council with the expectation that it would emerge as a broad-based political platform capable of advancing the collective interests of all Zohnathlak communities. However, it maintained that the Council had fallen short of that objective. According to the statement, the Hmar Inpui believes the Council has not developed into the inclusive body originally envisioned and therefore no longer serves as a common political platform for all constituent communities. Despite ending its association with the KZC, the Hmar Inpui clarified that it remains committed to the larger political aspirations of the Zohnathlak people and is open to constructive dialogue and future cooperation on issues of common interest. The organisation also expressed gratitude to the Council for the period of collaboration and wished it success in its future endeavours. The exit of the Hmar Inpui marks a notable shift within the Kuki-Zo Council , an umbrella body formed in 2024 to coordinate the political and social interests of various Kuki-Zo tribes in Manipur.
