Legendary Filmmaker Rob Reiner Found Dead in Apparent Double Homicide

Hollywood filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, best known for films such as This Is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men and When Harry Met Sally…, was found dead along with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday afternoon. He was 78, while Michele Singer Reiner was 68. The son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner and singer-actress Estelle Lebost, Rob Reiner was a known actor, director and producer. He rose to fame with his role in the iconic TV sitcom All in the Family and went on to direct acclaimed films including Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, Misery and A Few Good Men. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has classified the deaths as an apparent double homicide. Detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division are leading the investigation . Emergency crews responded to reports of a medical emergency at the couple’s home on Chadbourne Avenue shortly before 3:40 pm local time on December 14. Firefighters found the bodies of the couple inside the property. Senior law enforcement officials told ABC News that both victims suffered stab wounds consistent with a knife attack. While the identities were initially withheld, multiple media outlets including TMZ and Variety reported that the deceased are Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. Official confirmation from investigators has not yet been released regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal injuries.
