India Allocates ₹100 Crore to Establish University Hub Scheme

About ₹100 crore will be spent over three years on this scheme. A budgetary provision of ₹100 crore has been made in the financial year 2026-27. This includes ₹70 crore for capital and ₹30 crore for operational expenses. The first phase of U-Hub will develop a 25-25 thousand square feet area in Noida and Lucknow. The first phase of U-Hub will provide shared workspaces for startups, prototype facilities, and spaces for investors. In the long term, permanent campuses will be built in Noida with an area of four lakh square feet and Lucknow with an area of two lakh square feet. U-Hub will be set up under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. It will be governed by an 11-member Board of Directors, headed by the Director of IIT Kanpur. A Chief Executive Officer will be appointed for both the centres. The Noida centre will focus on Quantum, Advanced Computing, Semiconductor Design, and OSAT.
