India and Poland Strengthen Ties with New Agreements and Cooperation

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said that India and Poland are working on a series of agreements covering areas such as cyber security, space, clean coal, classified information and critical minerals, expressing confidence that the initiatives will add greater depth and substance to bilateral relations.Addressing a joint press conference with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski following their talks in Warsaw, Jaishankar said India and Poland share a long-standing and cordial relationship, which was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2024. Mr Jaishankar also said that India’s Indology and Sanskrit programme are also doing well in Polish universities.He noted that the growing closeness between the two countries is reflected in regular high-level political engagements and institutional mechanisms across multiple sectors.On India-European Union relations, Jaishankar said ties between the two sides have deepened significantly in recent years. He described the recently concluded India-EU Free Trade Agreement as the centrepiece of the relationship, adding it would create new economic opportunities for both sides.Meanwhile, the Polish Foreign Ministry said the discussions between Jaishankar and Sikorski covered the implementation of the Strategic Partnership and cooperation in key sectors, including defence, space and shipbuilding. The two sides also exchanged views on the security situation in Europe, multilateral and regional cooperation, monuments and commemorative issues, as well as greater collaboration between think tanks.
