India Appoints New State Election Commissioner Amid Shuffle of Key Posts

Former chief secretary Prabodh Saxena and two other former officials are said to be in the race for the post of state election commissioner. The government will now appoint a state election commissioner, who will have a tenure of five years. Apart from the election commissioner, the posts of chief information commissioner, state information commissioner and chairman of the water commission are also up for grabs. The term of the chairman of the state water commission is also ending on August 11.
