India Braces for Impact as Iran-Israel Conflict Enters Fourth Week

New Delhi, તા.24: The dreaded war between Iran and Israel in Central Asia has now entered its fourth week, with direct implications for India's economy and security. The situation has become very serious after the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei by the US and Israel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called an all-party meeting at 5 pm on Wednesday to deal with this crisis. Earlier, PM Modi had made it clear in the Lok Sabha that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz could lead to a power outage, against which we have to be prepared like COVID-19. The biggest concern for India is the safety of about 10 million Indians living in the Gulf countries and the country's oil and gas supplies. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has held a high-level review meeting with CDS General Anil Chauhan and the three service chiefs on the matter - reviewing regional security. Millions of Indians are still stranded in the Strait of Hormuz due to a naval alert.
