National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval's visit to China assumes significance in many ways. India-China relations appear to be getting back to normal. Doval met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi in China on Tuesday (August 25). During this time, India-China had serious discussions on maintaining peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as well as the border line. India-China also talked about increasing each other's cooperation. Importantly, this Special Representative level talks took place a few weeks before Chinese President Xi Jinping's possible visit to India for the upcoming BRICS Summit. Doval said in the meeting that the restoration of normalcy in India-China relations is directly due to both sides maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas. The Indian Embassy in Beijing said, "Both sides reviewed the ongoing positive progress in bilateral relations, which is in line with the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping."
