India Clarifies Position on Russian Oil Purchase Amid Ongoing Conflict

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is in the Ukrainian capital Kiev on a visit, has once again clarified India's position on the purchase of crude oil from Russia. Replying to a question from a Ukrainian journalist in the capital Kiev, the External Affairs Minister said that the issue of war between Russia and Ukraine will not be solved by whether someone is buying oil, minerals or metals. This dispute will be solved through dialogue and diplomacy. In fact, a Ukrainian journalist in Kiev asked External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar whether India will continue to buy crude oil from Russia. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar answered this question in his own way. He said, "I understand the reason for your question, but I think you also understand the challenges of providing energy to 1.4 billion people. That too at a time when the world energy sector situation remains very difficult." Further putting India's side, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said during his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Sibiha Sibiha in Ukraine on Thursday that "there is no one to help Ukraine in any comprehensive talks" with India to end the war.
