India Secures Strategic Oil Supply Deal with Mauritius Amid Middle East Tensions

Middle East Tensions: Amid escalating Middle East tensions and oil supply crisis, India has taken a major diplomatic and strategic step. External Affairs Minister S. The External Affairs Minister, who is attending the 9th Indian Ocean Conference, held bilateral talks with Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam. On the occasion, Jaishankar said that conflicts in the Middle East and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz have made the world realise how important a strategic partnership is. One-fifth of the world's crude oil supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz, where global prices skyrocket in the event of a crisis. In such a situation, India's supply of crude oil to Mauritius will be a 700% cushion for its economy.
