India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan's threats on the Indus Waters Treaty on Friday (3 July 2026). The Ministry of External Affairs has bluntly said that India's position on the Indus Waters Treaty has always been the same. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Pakistan continues to support and promote cross-border terrorism, hence the treaty is currently suspended. This reaction from the Ministry of External Affairs comes after a Pakistani minister warned India earlier this week about the treaty. Pakistan said that Islamabad will cut the hands of those who are trying to control the waters of the Indus River. Pakistan's Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik said, "The Prime Minister of the neighbouring country (India) has the control of a tap in his hand and they say that they will not let a drop of water go to Pakistan. If anyone touches or tries to block the water of Pakistan's share, they will cut his hand." Before this statement, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had also warned that Pakistan would cut off India's share of the Indus Waters Treaty after the April 2025 terror attack.
