India Wants Bangladesh PM Visit to Be Memorable: Indian High Commissioner

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's proposed visit to India to be a memorable one. India's High Commissioner in Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi said this at a time when uncertainty prevails over Rahman's visit to New Delhi for the BRICS summit in September. There is also new pressure on the relationship between the two countries over Dhaka's demand for Sheikh Hasina's extradition. Speaking at an event organised by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday for a delegation of top Bangladeshi business leaders and CII, Dinesh Trivedi said that PM Modi has made it clear that the meeting of the two leaders is necessary. The Indian High Commissioner also assured that Rahman will receive the same dignified welcome as he deserves on his visit to India. According to him, the people and business of both countries will ultimately benefit from the growing closeness between the two leaders. He said that it was natural for him to have a deeper engagement with the people of Bangladesh.
