Indian Anti-Corruption Agency Raids Notorious Syndicate Leader's Properties Ahead of Elections

The Central Bureau of Investigation (ED) raided Tilottama again in the run-up to the Assembly elections. The ED conducted marathon searches in multiple areas of South Kolkata on Wednesday. Officials raided the residence of Jay Kamdar, an executive of a contractor company in Ballygunge, and recovered about ₹12 million. On the other hand, a firearm was recovered from the house of Biswajit Poddar alias Sona Pappu, a notorious syndicate leader in Kasba. Sona Pappu, who is on the ED's radar for allegedly extorting crores of rupees from construction companies in Kasba and Ballygunge areas. Investigators claim that the syndicate's money used to reach various influential people. Notably, Sona Pappu is known to be close to Debashis Kumar, the president of South Kolkata's Trinamool Congress and a candidate from Rashbehari constituency. Incidentally, Debashis Kumar was questioned by the ED last Monday. The ED's two-day raid spanned political circles.
