The central government has appointed Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer, as the new CEO of NITI Aayog. Anurag Jain has been appointed for a period of two years. As per the order issued by the government, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, as the CEO of NITI Aayog. The appointment will be effective from the date of taking charge of Anurag Jain. He will hold the post for the duration of his extension first. Even after this, his total tenure will be two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Anurag Jain's name was being discussed for the last several days that he will get another extension as the Chief Secretary. Although he was to retire on 31 August 2025, the central government has given him an extension of exactly one year. So now once again he has been given an extension of two years by making him an executive officer of NITI Aayog. Anurag Jain, a senior IAS officer, will continue to play an important role in the governance and infrastructure projects during his tenure.
