Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been continuously striving to provide every facility to the tribal people of the state, for which the central government is successfully implementing many important schemes. The Prime Minister has also announced a package of Rs.2 lakh crore in the next five years for the uplift of the tribals through the Janjatiya Kalyan Yojana. The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi has done a great job for tribal upliftment by allocating a historic budget of Rs.35,782 crore for the Tribal Development Department, Tribal Development Minister Naresh Patel said in the Legislative Assembly. The Minister said that when the state of Gujarat was separated from Maharashtra in 1961, the combined budget of the Tribal Department and the Social Welfare Department was only Rs.58 crore. In the past 35 to 40 years, only 6 to 6.5 thousand crore rupees were spent. But in 2007, the then Chief Minister and Prime Minister of the country Modi announced a package of Rs.15 thousand crore for the overall development of the entire tribal society.
