Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to introduce a new bill for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. As per the minutes of the Rajya Sabha, the act will regulate the recruitment, promotion and other conditions of service of CAPF officers. At present, forces like CRPF, BSF, ITBP and SSB are governed by their own separate laws. The government proposes to bring all forces under one umbrella through this new bill. As per the proposed bill. In the case of recruitment of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in CAPFs, 50 per cent of the posts of Inspector General (IG) and a minimum of 67 per cent of the posts of Additional Director General (ADG) will be filled through deputation. The posts of Special Director General (SDG) and Director General (DG) are proposed to be filled up entirely (100% only through deputation. It is in the context of the apex court's direction that the proposed law will be implemented in a phased manner over the next six months.
