Indian Parliament Debates Bill to Prevent Paper Leaks in Public Exams Amid Heated Protests

The Lok Sabha began discussing the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, related to paper leaks at 2 pm. The bill proposes changes to the 2024 law. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh said it will help prevent paper leaks. Priyanka Gandhi questioned the government on who authorised the lathi-charge and pellet guns on students. Priyanka said a person was made education minister who agreed to the release of the rapists of a pregnant woman. The ruling party then created a ruckus. Rijiju, Nishikant Dubey and Joshi protested and said Priyanka should first give proof of this and apologise. Earlier, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said the government does not promise jumlas. As the afternoon session began, Speaker Om Birla said I have fixed 6 hours for discussion. The ruling party and the opposition can increase the time if they want. To this, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that all parties now need bad talk from the government.
