Indian Parliament's Speaker to Decide Fate of Rebel MPs

The decision on the merger and disqualification of these MPs, who defected from the party to the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) amid demands from the Trinamool Congress to cancel the membership of 20 rebel Lok Sabha MPs, will be taken before the monsoon session. The speaker has already met a delegation of rebel MPs. The speaker had called party leaders to present their side of the story in connection with the letter given by the TMC on June 14 against the proposal to merge the rebel MPs with the NCPI. This delegation of party leaders, along with Kalyan Banerjee, Mahua Moitra and party leader in the Rajya Sabha Derek O'Brien, along with TMC parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha Abhishek Banerjee, met Birla. After meeting the speaker, Abhishek Banerjee told reporters that 20 people met the speaker and claimed to be a separate group, but later it was found out that they were not joining an unknown NCPI. On the TMCI controversy, Mahua thanked Abhishek Manu Singh, then the rebel MPs, for the decision on the merger of the NCPI with the NCPI.
