Indian PM Modi to Attend SCO Summit, Meet Russian President Putin in Kyrgyzstan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the SCO Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 31 August and 1 September 2026. During this, he will also have a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders will discuss India-Russia relations as well as regional and international issues. Modi's visit will begin on 29 August. First, he will go to Uzbekistan on 29 and 30 August. Then he will arrive in Kyrgyzstan on 31 August. Trade and economic cooperation between India and Russia are expected to be a major focus of Modi and Putin's meeting. Cooperation in areas such as energy, fertilizers, nuclear energy, and technology will also be an important issue between the two countries. Recently, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Putin in Moscow. During that meeting, Putin said that Russia is ready to increase the supply of fertilizers to India, as well as regional and international issues. He also said that Russia is ready to accelerate bilateral trade between India and Russia from 100 years to 2030.
