New Delhi: A shocking picture of Indian politics has emerged in the 2026 assembly elections. One MLA declared assets worth only ₹700 crore in his affidavit, while another's assets were ₹863 crore. A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), highlighting the huge disparity in the wealth of politicians, once again raises serious questions about growing economic inequality and money power in politics. Tamil Nadu's Leema Rose Martin became the state with the richest MLAs. Leema Rose Martin declared the highest wealth in the country. In her affidavit, she declared assets worth about ₹5,863 crore. Leema Rose Martin is said to be associated with the famous Lottery King family, which has long been considered influential in both business and politics. Chief Minister Vijay was also among the richest MLAs in Tamil Nadu. She recorded an average declared wealth of around ₹ID1 crore in the 2026 elections.
