Indian Teachers Face Injustice Due to Delayed Transfers

Sohan Lal, an assistant teacher in the government higher secondary school Barotha Chakrata in the education department, is also longing to come to Sugam despite 22 years of service in Durgam. Sohan Lal says that his first appointment was in GIC Motia Pathar Almora in 2003. After 11 years of service in this school, he changed divisions and came to Barotha School in Garhwal division. When mandatory transfers of staff are being made every year in all departments, why is injustice being done only to teachers. Many teachers have been in the inaccessible and extremely inaccessible area for 25 to 30 years due to non-transfers on time. Those who are not able to come to Sugam are affecting their morale. Ramesh Painyuli, former provincial general secretary of the Government Teachers'Association of the state, said that this year there will be no compulsory transfers under the Teachers'Transfer Act, but applications have been sought for transfers from the department on the basis of requests.
