India's Cricket Squad for 2027 ODI World Cup Takes Shape; Mohammed Shami's Future Uncertain

After winning the T20 World Cup in 2024 and success in the Asia Cup and Champions Trophy, India now aims for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The selectors have already formed a core group of 20 cricketers to remove the scars of losing the final at home in 2023. However, according to BCCI sources, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami does not figure in the list of 20 selectors. But is Shami's stint in the blue jersey coming to an end? This is the question doing the rounds in the cricketing circles. The selection committee comprising Shivsundar Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra and Pragyan Ojha will keep a close watch on the performance of these 20 cricketers from the next IPL. A board official said that every selector has been instructed to be physically present on the field and monitor their mental and physical condition along with watching the game on TV. Mohammed Siraj is the highest wicket-taker in the 2023 World Cup, while Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are the main pillars of the team.
