A drainage master plan is now being prepared to relieve low-lying areas from waterlogging. Sewer lines were laid under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) during the UPA regime of the Congress. The slope of these lines was not in the right direction, which led to the problem of waterlogging. A new sewer line was laid on Malviya Road in Georgetown in the year 2024-25 under the BJP regime, which collapsed in the first rain. Drains are also being built under the AdCM Grid scheme. The construction of a drain near CMP Degree College was left incomplete, leading to severe waterlogging again in Georgetown. A special grant under the 12th Finance did not provide any relief to the area from waterlogging.
