India's Legislative Council Elections Scheduled for June 18

Lokmat News Network Mumbai: Elections to the Legislative Council from 17 constituencies of local self-governing bodies will be held on 18 June. The Election Commission on Monday announced the schedule for this election. The Mahayuti will get a big success in this election and the Maha Vikas Aghadi will have to struggle a lot to win. The election for 16 of these seats and the by-election for the Nagpur local body is going to be held. In Nagpur, Chandrashekhar Bawankule of the BJP resigned from the Legislative Council on 23 November 2024 after being elected to the Legislative Assembly. The term of Bawankule's seat is till 1 January 2028. This means that the person elected from this seat will get an MLA for one and a half years. The other 16 people will get a 6-year term. Recently, the Mahayuti has got a big success in the local body elections. The election schedule has been issued: 25 May: Last date of filing notification: 1 June: Scrutiny of voters: 2 June: Last date of withdrawal: 8 June - 18 June: Municipal Councillors, Municipal Councillors, Municipal Councillors.
